Strava to Wahoo: load your Strava routes onto a Wahoo ELEMNT
Want a Strava route on your Wahoo ELEMNT? The cleanest way is a GPX file added in the ELEMNT app — it puts exactly the route you chose on the device. Export GPX saves any of your Strava routes or activities — including private ones — as a standard GPX on your Android phone, ready to add under Routes and sync to a ROAM or BOLT. Free, no computer needed.
Step by step
- Install Export GPX (free) from Google Play.
- Sign in with Strava. Strava's own login page opens inside the app — the app never sees your password.
- Pick a route or activity. Switch between Routes and Activities and choose the one you want on your Wahoo.
- Tap GPX. A standard
.gpxfile is saved wherever you choose. - Add it in the Wahoo ELEMNT app. Open Routes, add the GPX file, and it syncs to your ELEMNT.
On the Wahoo itself
After it syncs, on the ELEMNT open Routes, pick the route and tap Ride — you'll follow the line with turn prompts and an off-course beep.
Frequently asked questions
Why not sync Strava to Wahoo directly?
The built-in link mostly uploads finished rides to Strava, not planned routes to the device. A GPX gives you exact control.
Does this work with the ELEMNT ROAM and BOLT?
Yes — ROAM, BOLT and the original ELEMNT all take a GPX under Routes.
Can I use a private activity or a planned route?
Yes — both routes and activities, public and private.
Is it free?
Yes — the app is free and shows a small banner ad.
