How to export a GPX file from Strava on Android
Strava doesn't give you a simple way to pull a route or activity off your phone as a GPX file — especially planned routes. Export GPX does it in a few taps: your own Strava activities and routes, including private ones, saved as standard GPX files ready for a Garmin, Wahoo or any GPS watch. It's a free Android app, no computer needed.
Step by step
- Install Export GPX (free) from Google Play.
- Sign in with Strava. Strava's own login page opens inside the app — the app never sees your password.
- Pick an activity or route. Switch between Activities and Routes and choose the one you want; a map preview confirms it's the right one.
- Tap GPX. A standard
.gpxfile is saved wherever you choose — Downloads, Google Drive or Dropbox. - Import it into your device app (see below).
Strava to Garmin or Wahoo
Once you have the GPX file:
- Strava to Garmin: in Garmin Connect, open Training & Planning → Courses → Import, choose the GPX, then send the course to your device.
- Strava to Wahoo: in the ELEMNT app, open Routes and add the GPX file.
- Or drop the file into Hammerhead, Bryton, Coros, Suunto, OsmAnd, Locus Map or Gaia GPS — anything that imports GPX.
